Charles R. Witherspoon, Chief Inspector

Mr. Witherspoon has extensive experience in the construction industry. He has a solid, diverse background in construction, building design and materials, and related technology. This experience has lead to a highly successful home inspection practice.

Mr. Witherspoon received his education at the College of Engineering at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Ohio State. He has also attended post-graduate studies at Central Michigan University (Columbus, Ohio campus) in the executive MBA program.

He has previously worked for an architectural firm specializing in multi-family residential construction. While working there, he was involved with the design and construction inspection of both single-family homes and multi-family housing.

Mr. Witherspoon was employed for 12 years for a major building materials supplier, Owens-Corning Fiberglas Corporation, in their research and development facility. His duties there involved the development and testing of new building materials. Owens-Corning building components included: roofing, insulation, wallboard, sheathing, plumbing fixtures, air handling equipment, ductwork and concrete materials.

Since 1995, Mr. Witherspoon has been president of ProInspex of Georgia, Inc., a full-service residential inspection firm serving the metro Atlanta market. He is a full member of the American Society of Home Inspectors, Inc. (ASHI). He is a professional member of the International Code Council (ICC). And, he is a full member of the Georgia Association of Home Inspectors, Inc. (GAHI).

Mr. Witherspoon is an ICC certified inspector in the following disciplines:

  • Residential Combination Inspector (certification #5185489-R5)
  • Property Maintenance & Housing Inspector (certification #5185489-64)
  • Plumbing Inspector (certification #5185489-P5)
  • Residential Electrical Inspector (certification #5185489-E1).

Mr. Witherspoon firmly believes that continuing education is critical to providing the best inspection techniques, the best report procedures, and the best advice for our clients. Every year he has attended multiple training conferences and training classes. Annual training costs are several thousand dollars. Recent training sessions have included workshops on electrical, structural, synthetic stucco, mold in buildings and other topics.

Mr. Witherspoon is committed to the home inspection industry. He is active with the local chapters for GAHI and ASHI. In recent years, Mr. Witherspoon has served as Vice President, Treasurer, and a Member of the Board of Directors for the Georgia Association of Home Inspectors, Inc.
